TORC January 23 Launch

We could not get into the Wildman Farm field, so we decided to have a get together and launch at Steve's house and the "ROCKET BARN". Thanks to Steve for inviting us to his house. We had a lot of our members present. Everyone started the day with cleaning our equipment for the coming flying season. Lunch time came and out came the grille. Lee and John Brent were the grille masters. Great job John. Thanks to all that brought food and helped to prepare lunch.

Then came the fun time. We had a sport launch in the corn field behind Steve's house. Even with the corn stalks laying on the ground, it got muddy really fast. The first two flights hopefully were not the signs for "Why are we out here?". Alex Temple had the first flight with his Mercury Redstone and a little too much delay. The rocket smashed into the ground. Then Mike Rhode launched his rocket. "Oh No, Don't go left". The rocket landed right in the top of the only trees to the left of the launch site. Ater those two flights, we were off and running. Flight after flight, we walked in the muddy field to recover our rockets. We heard from Alex Temple, "Dad, I'm stuck in the mud, come get me!". And Will Wilder say "Dad, help me out of the mud". Doug, his dad did not have boots on, so I went to Will's rescue. We managed all kinds of flight with all kinds of motors. The last flight of the day was Terry Temple with his DragonFly with a "G69 Skidmark". What a great flight to end the day.

This was a great day to start the new year. Can't wait for all the fun we will have in the coming year. Thanks to everyone... Lee Berry... President....
