November 28th TORC Launch

Well here it is, the second launch report of our new field in South Charleston. Do we know how to pick a launch date? Can not believe that we had such a nice sunny day with a little of a breeze. I would like to start out and say congratulations to Ted Oldiges and David Cook. Ted flew his "Wildcat One" on a H123W for his Level 1 certification. David flew his Extended Warlock on a J350W for a successful flight for his Level 2 flight.

We also had a 3 motor cluster by Jay Berry and Doug Wilder had a "D" engine two stage rocket and a rocket with a two "D" engine cluster. High Power flight line was also busy. I flew my Upscale Sword "The X-Caliber" on a H123W. Terry Temple flew his "Warrior Rocket" on an I245G with dual deployment. Picture perfect flight. Steve Temple's "Arrow" used the K885 Black Bear with lots of black smoke and the new "Screamin' Eagle III" on a K1000. The "Eagle's" parachute deployed at apogee causing the rocket to take a ride to the other side of the field.

We had club members from WVSoar. A Big THANK YOU for coming out to our launch. David Cook flew the Warlock on the J350 for his cert flight. Joe Grubb flew his upscale "Cheokee" on a K550W. Joe also had a successful flight on his "Triple Threat". He ground started two H238T and air started a H250G. Joe Allen also got his share of flying. He used an I223 skid on his "Vulcanite". Joe's big flight was his "Thor's Hammer" on  a CTI L1720.

We had quite a lot of members that flew a lot of rockets. I would like to mention them. The number 4 top spot goes to Mark Lewis. Mark had a total of 8 flights. Keep the good work up. Looked like all the walking wore you down. The number 3 and 2 top spot goes to a tie between Luke Hoffman and Alex Temple. They each had 11 flights. Way to go. Then the number 1 top spot with the most flights goes to Mike Rhode. With a total of 12 flights that kept everybody busy.

We had a total of 23 registered fliers. We managed to get 90 flights in the air with a total of 96 motors.  Here is the break down of each size of motor. We had (2) 1/4A's  (4) 1/2A's  (9) A's  (18) B's  (24) C's  (9) D's  (8) E's  (5) F's  (5) G's  (5) H's (2) I's  (1) J   (3) K's and (1) L.

I would like to thank all the rocketeers that came out early to help set up and thank you for all the rocketeers that helped take everything down. Our next launch is going to be December 12th. Hope for good weather. Can we have 3 launches in a row with good weather?
